Wall-mounted EV Charger Q&A
1.Does Level 2 fast charging damage EV battery life?
Answer: No. Level 2 AC charging causes negligible battery degradation, far less than DC fast charging (Level 3) heat and stress.
2.Is it normal for a wall-mounted charger to get very hot while charging?
Answer: Mild warmth (40–50°C) is normal. If casing is too hot to touch (>60°C) or charging throttles, check ventilation or contact support.
3.Which is better for home use – a 7kW or a 22kW wall-mounted charger?
A 7kW charger is sufficient for most households to fully charge their vehicles overnight; it is cost-effective and easy to install. Whils a 22kW charger offers much faster charging speeds, it requires the electric vehicle to support three-phase power and the household to hav t e a three-phase power supply. If both conditions are met, purchasing a 22kW charging gun is the better option, as it is also backwards compatible, allowing the vehicle to charge at either 7kW or 22kW.
4.Will charging with a wall-mounted charger trip my home’s main breaker?
Answer: No if properly installed and load calculation is correct. Tripping indicates insufficient panel capacity or faulty wiring/breaker.
5.How long does it typically take to fully charge an EV with a wall-mounted charger?
Usually 4–10 hours. This depends on the electric vehicle’s battery capacity (50–100 kWh) and charging power (7–22 kW). For example, a 60 kWh battery takes approximately 8.5 hours to charge using a 7 kW charging point.
